Harborplace is comprised of two adjacent shopping pavilions that stand at the water's edge in the heart of the Harbor. Together the buildings consist of 101 shops, 16 restaurants, and 40 eateries; the two structures harbor most of the action along the water and cannot be missed or overlooked when walking along the water's edge.
Visitors can go to either building and get a quick bite to eat, enjoy a nice sit-down dinner, or just take a load off; or, rather, get a load on with a few cocktails. Some of the more commercial places located at Harborplace include, Planet Hollywood, the Cheesecake Factory, and Hooters. Harborplace shopping, on the other hand, lacks imagination and is slightly upscale.
However, there is better shopping on the other side of Pratt Street at The Gallery, a four-story shopping mall that is connected to Harborplace by skywalk. This is a huge mall that offers another 70 shops, with standard stores like The Gap, Foot Locker, and Bath & Body Works; interspersed with high-end shops such as The Coach Store, Talbots, and Brooks Brothers.
Harborplace and The Gallery is especially happening during the summer with live entertainment, fireworks, visiting ships, etc.. Both places are a very short distance away from such major attractions as the National Aquarium and the Maryland Science Center. Moreover, directly in front of Harborplace is the water taxi 'center.' If driving, visitors can park in The Gallery Garage, with entrances on both South and Calvert Streets. Or valet your vehicle at the Pratt Street Pavilion entrance from 5pm - Midnight, Mon. thru Fri., and 11am - Midnight on weekends.
