The Homewood house is an impressive display of Federal-period architecture. It was built in 1801 by Charles Caroll Jr., son of the wealthy Charles Carroll -- a signer of the Declaration of Independence whom George Washington called 'the most monied man in America.' Much of the museum's ornamentation and furnishings reflect the finest materials and craftsmanship of the early 19th century, including pieces once owned by the Carroll family.
This museum is a nice place to visit if you are interested in the architecture or lifestyle experienced by many aristocratic American families of the 19th century. It is located on the Johns Hopkins University campus just off of Charles St., before the University Pkwy. The best means of getting to the Homewood House is by vehicle.
For fanciers of the decorative arts, this place on the campus of Johns Hopkins University is a must. It is near the Walters art Gallery. Should also try to combine it with Evergreen House. ....Click Here for the full review
